I think and think and think; I’ve thought myself out of happiness one million times, but never once into it.

A Dose of Feel-Good Animal Stories
64,000 endangered sea turtles gathered at Raine Island in the Great Barrier Reef. Watch the surreal video from the drone footage here!
A supermarket in the United Kingdom adopted a bunch of penguins! Many zoos have been under financial pressure since the lockdown, so this chain agreed to provide financial support for the entire group of penguins.
The lion population in Gujarat, India has grown to 674 lions, according to the state’s forest and environment departments. That’s an increase of 151 lions since the last census conducted in 2015.
Two Texans saved a baby deer using CPR! They found the baby deer drifting along the river and later brought the fawn to a wildlife rehabilitation clinic.
Books by… Drones?
Summer’s starting, and that means many kids will be home. What’s a good way to spend all that free time? Reading! Moreover, a librarian in Virginia has found an extra special way to entice kids to read: by drone delivery!
Help, Google: Kelly Passek, a middle-school librarian, reached out to Google’s drone delivery system, Wing. She asked for drones to drop books on kids’ doorsteps. Google agreed, and now Passek is taking requests for books. She’s organizing the entire effort, which means collecting orders, collecting the books from libraries, packaging those books, and even dropping the books off at Wing’s facilities.
Kids don’t have to return the books until the end of the summer, so cheers to a wonderful summer filled with lots of reading opportunities!
Highs and Lows
Kathy Sullivan, the first U.S. woman to walk in space (and basically reach the highest point possible), has also reached the lowest point on Earth by visiting the deepest part of the ocean. Talk about a rollercoaster ride!
Details: Dr. Sullivan is both an astronaut and an oceanographer. Thirty-six years ago, Dr. Sullivan went to space, and recently, she emerged from the Challenger Deep, which is the deepest known point in Earth’s seabed. Dr. Sullivan visited the Challenger Deep with Victor L. Vescovo, who is an explorer funding the mission. They both dove seven miles down in a muddy depression in the Mariana Trench, and spent about a half-hour at the Challenger Deep. They gathered images for their mission, and then made the four hour journey back to the surface of the ocean.

Act of Kindness
Be kind to Mother Nature: if you’re able to, try to plant a flower, a tree, or even a little herb garden. Your plants will bring beauty and freshness to your life, and help the Earth be a tiny bit more green.
Need inspiration? Take a page out of Ethiopia’s book. Ethiopia has goals to plant 5 billion trees this year! This goal, part of the broader Green Legacy project, also includes planting 20 billion trees by 2025. All of these efforts will greatly help combat environmental degradation, while also helping transition Ethiopia into a greener society.
